Presidential recognition sets you apart from your peers. It is a tremendous honor. You might not be seeking recognition for your volunteer efforts but your example can deliver a strong message that encourages other people to take action.
Dr. Desmond Teo Yen Koon received the prestigious US President Lifetime Achievement Award signed by President Barack Obama in April 2016.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award is basically for United States citizens and lawfully admitted, permanent residents of United States who have been successful in achieving the required number of hours of service over a one year (12 months) time period or cumulative hours over the course of a lifetime.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award is usually given by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and is administered by Points of Light. Through a shared mission of inspiring more to answer the call to service, the President’s Volunteer Service Award is all about rewarding and recognizing the impact we can all make in bettering our communities and our world.
